RACING YARDS SWAP HORSES FOR DOGS FOR NIGHT OUT
SKY Sports TV coverage for Mildenhall
STABLE staff from Newmarket yards swapped one type of racing for another at a special night out at Mildenhall Greyhound Stadium. They were guests of the new management at the West Row track.
Carl Harris, managing director at Mildenhall said “We wanted to make the most of the close horse racing community and reward some of the hard working behind the scenes stable staff too.
“We laid on transport to and from the Astley Club in Newmarket. Six yards were represented and each had a sponsored race and also had to choose a best-turned out dog award. Everyone got involved and the yard tipster competition was hotly contested.
“Many thanks have to go to Sir Mark Prescott for his initial support – other trainers represented were Declan Daly, Michael Jarvis, James Fanshawe and Neville Callaghan.”
Sara Wallwin from Jeremy Noseda Racing said : “Our lads had a fabulous time and Oza, who had never been greyhound racing before was lucky enough to win the ‘Yard Tipster Competition’. He was thrilled with his trophy and very much looks forward to returning soon.”
Filming during the night (Friday Dec 2) will also be used in a Sky TV show called The Dogs – initially broadcast on Tuesday 6 Dec at 6.30pm on Sky Sports 3.
Harris added “The National TV coverage on what is the flagship show for the sport is fantastic and the stadium will be going from strength to strength in 2006.”
